THEORY ANSWERS

1) FACELESS

Question: Comment on the significance of Fofo’s visit to Ordarley.

Answer: Fofo runs to Ordarley the night Poison attempted to rape her. This visit is quite significant. Fofo was sleeping on a cardboard at the Agbogbloshie market when Poison came around. He stylishly runs her hand from Fofo’s laps with the hope of seducing her. Poison is aware of the life at Sodom and Gomorrah. Life for the youth at this slum is Accra is that alcohol, adult film and sex. This explains why he begins by romancing the girl with the hope that she gets aroused sexually and yeilds to her overtures.

Fofo awakes, tries to scream and learns that this is Poison, the wicked street Lord. She comports herself and begins planning inwardly how to escape from this ordeal. She watches in horror but calmly. Then her opportunity comes. She gives Poison a shocking kick on his manhood and pushes him away from her.

Fofo then runs as fast as her legs could carry her to the kiosk where Ordarley lives. At this kiosk, we learn more about the life of the young people at this slum called Sodom and Gomorrah.

For instance, we learn that these children drink alcohol in excess before going to bed. These wild parties enable them forget their travels. The boys and girls in this slum are products of loveless homes.

After drinking alcohol, they go to the make shift houses where they pay the landlord each night to have a shelter over their heads. Here, boys and girls sleep in the same room. Meaning they do whatever they wished sexually.

This visit also opens up the fact that the people who occupy this slum do not have decent toilets. The toilets are dirty and too few. This is why a lot of people shit in gutters.

Ordarley and Fofo go to shit in the gutters and Poison’s men (Macho and others) came after them.

This visit also encouraged Fofo to visit her mother Maa Tsuru from where she learns that Poison was behind Baby T’s death and that Poison could be after her own life.

Many Dalton is friend to bigger but bigger is ready to exhibit his disdain for white folks as the same feelings is felt towards Jan too. On the other hand, many and jam (the two I white lovers ) shows him love and friendliness which makes him ashamed of himself. Both lovers are closing so at the rock of disapproval from their own folks. The two parties are actually operating in total ignorance of the other hand situation , a condition brought about by years of unhealthy extreme opinion of the other .

It is ironical that jam, whom bigger tried blame his murder of Mary on, would later take step to free the some bigger of culpability in the crime. He is the one who brings max to Bigger to act as his counsel during his arraignment.

Another ironic situation is noticed with the respect of bigger is freedom. While restricted to a cell in prison , he feels free where as outside he feel.
